Oct. 22 event benefiting The Journey Home changes format but continues to promise incredible surprises

(Baltimore, MD)- Jewel, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Kristin Chenoweth and Vanessa Williams have surprised attendees over the years as part of the annual “An Evening of Unexpected Delights” fundraiser benefiting The Journey Home, Baltimore City’s plan to make homelessness rare and brief. For the event’s sixth year, there is no more guessing. The organization has let the cat out of the bag, announcing The Roots will take the stage with special guest, Tony Award-winner Leslie Odom, Jr. of “Hamiltonon Saturday, October 22 at the Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric.

The format for the event, known for its exciting surprises, has also changed this year. While guests should still expect the unexpected, the new venue allows for a concert-focused event with more emphasis on the artists’ performances.

Tickets range from $40 to $175 and are available through Ticketmaster. A limited number of VIP tickets include premium concert seating and access to an exclusive after party featuring DJ Alvaro, a cocktail lounge setting with open bar and late night munchies, and complimentary parking. Individual VIP tickets can be purchased for $175 or blocks of 10 tickets and are being sold for $1,600 through www.journeyhomebaltimore.org.

The Journey Home is Baltimore City’s 10-year plan to make homelessness rare and brief. The plan centers on a best practice known as “Housing First”, which emphasizes an increase in programs for men, women and families experiencing homelessness, as well as better coordination of existing services.  For more information about the plan, please visit www.journeyhomebaltimore.org.
