Review:
Going into this film, I was pumped because I love everything Alan Tudyk does. He’s brilliant. But what I was surprised about was how great ALL the main cast members are. Rufus Sewell made me yelp in laughter a few times. The cameo by Anne Reid of “Last Tango In Halifax” fame was pretty cool. She’s as elegant and funny as ever.
One of my favorite aspects of the film is how seemingly the dialogue and performances transform from drama to comedy or vice versa. It’s a great, quick Sunday afternoon watch with family or friends. It comes off as a play almost, as the main cast is mostly enclosed in one setting.
The twist of the film made my mouth DROP. The twist really opened my mind to what would I do in that situation. Would I be desperate? Would my moral compass kick in? The secrets that are devolved throughout the movie are delicious. Who is Mr. X and why do I want to be him..?
If a film can make me THINK, it’s good. And “The Trouble With Jessica” certainly did that. It will also make you laugh out loud and CRAVE some good clafoutis.
**** out of *****
