Shell Raiser Pale Ale will be on tap at all Greene Turtle locations throughout the mid-Atlantic and New York

Hanover, Md. (Nov. 3, 2014) – The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille is pleased to announce that beginning Nov. 13 Shell Raiser Pale Ale will be available at its 37 restaurant locations throughout the mid-Atlantic and New York. Shell Raiser is an English-style pale ale brewed by Heavy Seas in Baltimore, Md., specifically for The Greene Turtle restaurants. On Nov. 13, Greene Turtle Mug Club members will be the first to sample the beer during exclusive mug club parties.

Golden amber in color, the beer features a unique blend of English and American hops to give Shell Raiser its signature aroma and flavor. Crystal malt gives this beer a slight sweetness at the finish. At 4.75 percent Alcohol by Volume (ABV), it’s easily sessionable and the drinkability is high. Featuring medium carbonation level, Shell Raiser is hearty enough to satisfy discerning beer drinkers, yet finishes smoothly. With its malt forward presence and slightly hoppy finish, Shell Raiser pairs nicely with several Greene Turtle menu items, including burgers, signature sandwiches, gourmet tacos and wraps.

“It’s awesome to be able to bring a unique local craft beer like Shell Raiser Pale Ale to our customers and beer fans as this really is the kind of beer that will get all the kids asking where can I get a fake ID because they simply have to try it,” said Nick Kegg, marketing director for The Greene Turtle Franchising Corporation. “We chose to partner with Heavy Seas because they brew their beers right here in Maryland and they have a tremendous following. With the growing popularity of craft beers, the release of Shell Raiser is another way for us to connect with our customers by bringing them a taste of something local.”

Not new to the craft beer scene, The Greene Turtle has worked hard to cultivate a diverse assortment of brews for customers. All Greene Turtle locations, on average, carry between 15 to 30 bottle and draft craft beers from local breweries, including Alewerks Brewing Company (Williamsburg, Va.), Blue Point Brewery (Long Island, NY), Dogfish Head (Milton, Del.), Evolution Craft Brewing Company (Salisbury, Md.), Flying Dog Brewery (Frederick, Md.), Full Tilt Brewery (Baltimore, Md.), Hardywood Park Craft Brewery (Richmond, Va.), Heavy Seas (Baltimore, Md.), Jailbreak Brewing Company (Laurel, Md.), St. George Brewing Company (Hampton, Va.), and Union Craft Brewing Company (Baltimore, Md.). While the Greene Turtle is commonly known as the go-to sports bar in town, another well-known feature is its Mug Club, which allows members to drink out of a one-of-a-kind Greene Turtle Mug at a discount every time they visit. The Case Of Roland Doe

Anyone who has seen “The Exorcist” was probably terrified. But is real? Residents suburban D.C. claim it really happened to a boy in Mt. Rainier, Maryland in 1949. The claims first appeared in The Washington Post on August 10, 1949, in article titled ” “Pastor Tells Eerie Tale of ‘Haunted’ Boy.”

Legend has it, that Roland Doe’s Aunt Harriet introduced him to the Ouija Board before she passed. They would “play” on it. Big no no. After Harriet’s death, strange things started to occur in the house. Things would levitate near the boy. They also heard dripping and scratching sounds. During one of the scratching fits, the boys mom asked the spirit “If you’re Harriet, knock three times!” And wouldn’t you know it..they heard three knocking sounds.

Things got worse rapidly. Objects would fly across the room, such as fruit, or bottles of holy water and not break. Huh? Markings started to appear on the boys chest and body. The family turned to a Lutheran pastor, who was also a parapsychologist. He wanted Roland to spend a night with him at his home to study him. That night, the pastor witnessed furniture moving on its own, as well as the boy levitating. The pastor then suggested his parents contact a Catholic priest.

The boy was exorcised several times at Georgetown University Hospital by Edward Hughes. During the exorcism, the boy allegedly broke off a bed spring, and sliced Hughes’ arm. The ritual was halted. The family traveled to St. Louis, where one of Doe’s cousins contacted a professor of his to help. Raymond J. Bishop and his colleague witnessed the boy speaking in deep gravely voices and foreign languages, as well as having aversions to anything sacred. Flying objects and shaking furniture also persisted. They were granted permission for another exorcism.

Two more priests were called in: Walter Halloran and William Van Roo. During this exorcism, “hell” and “evil” began appearing on the boys chest. Reportedly the boy broke Halloran’s nose during this exorcism. The demon revealed itself as “one of the fallen angels.” Shortly after 11pm, Roland interrupted the ritual in a new deep voice:

“Satan! Satan! I am St. Michael! I command you, Satan, and the other evil spirits to leave this body, in the name of Dominus, immediately! Now! Now! Now!”

Roland had one more spasm..and he proclaimed the demon was  gone.

So was Roland really possessed? Maybe. Some experts and close friends say he was not. He was a spoiled brat, essentially who couldn’t get his way, so he started to act out. But some people believe he WAS possessed.

It should also be noted, that he was NOT from Mount Rainier. He was actually from Cottage City, Maryland. This was done to protect his and his family’s identity. However, over the years, his name and picture have been released. Regardless of if he was possessed or not, I will not be disclosing those details in this article.

Acclaimed Led Zeppelin Tribute Band’s Special Appearance is Part of Nation-Wide Tour

Baltimore, MD — Get The Led Out, the “American Led Zeppelin”, will be performing at the APG Federal Credit Union Arena on October 25 as part of its nation-wide tour. During this epic show, the phenomenal tribute band will recreate the recorded music of Led Zeppelin with the studio overdubs that the “mighty Zep” was never able to recreate on the concert stage themselves. When one hears three guitars on the album, Get The Led Out delivers three guitars on stage. Get The Led Out brings what the audience wants … a high energy, Zeppelin concert with an honest heart-thumping intensity.

Having amassed a large tour following, Get The Led Out has performed at theaters across the country and recently headlined Red Rocks in September. The band has become so popular, in fact, that guitarist Paul Hammond was recently featured in Guitar Player magazine (June 2014) and the lead singer Paul Sinclair was asked to join the Zac Brown Band on stage at two recent concerts. Its bass player Billy Childs was even a founding member of the 80s hit band Britny Fox and guitarist and piano player Andrew Lipke is an accomplished musician and composer.
