“Transit”
Starring: Franz Rogowski, Paula Beer, and Godehard Giese
Synopsis: Trying to flee Nazi occupied France, Georg assumes the identity of a deceased author. He soon falls in love with a young woman who is searching for her husband.
The first thing that stuck out to me was the acting. Franz Rogowski was haunting as Georg. He’s a dead ringer for Joaquin Phoenix, scar and all. The film is incredibly tense. In this alternate reality where Nazis still exist, the fear of the refugees were palpable, especially living in a time where nationalism and dictatorships seem to be on the rise. Without giving anything away, there’s a JOLT in the ending minutes that just floored me. On a final note, the use of Talking Heads track “Road To Nowhere” was spot on. Kudos to whoever inserted that in there. It kept the mood of dread
