Friz on Film Movie Review: “Late Shift”

“Late Shift”

Directed by: Petra Volpe

Starring: Leonie Benesch, Sonja Riesen, Alireza Bayram

Review:

I absolutely loved this film. I *may* be biased because I’m a hospital worker. Not one of the ones portrayed in the film, but I can understand the push and pull of the hospital environment.

The film follows Floria, a night nurse, who has returned to work on a very short staffed shift in a hospital, in Switzerland. Along the way, we met a gaggle of patients; all with their own problems and personalities. Some nice, some not so nice. Floria deals with them one by one and grits her teeth but remains professional.

Benesch is simply brilliant in this film. She never overdoes it, even in one big climactic scene. The writing is so good you REALLY feel for her; and quite frankly, hate some of her patients.

The movie is VERY tense, but not from a movie monster. It’s from Floria trying to monitor and treat all her patients by herself. It will really fray your nerves..you’ll be in a frenzy at some points in the film.

**** out of *****

“Late Shift” is available on VOD, YouTube, Fandago, Prime, Google Play and Apple TV!
